Crash Date: December 15, 1972
On December 15, 2005 I was in a head on collision with an impaired driver. It was 5:40 pm while on my home from work. It was a moment that changed my life forever. It robbed me of my health, motherhood and career. I suffered lifelong injuries that require nerve block, steroid epidural treatments as well as prescription medication - all geared toward pain management. The impaired driver served less than 45 days in jail for nearly killing me on the side of the road. I am the one with the life sentence. However, I believe my voice was spared for a reason and therefore feel a need to use it to hopefully influence others to make better choices and to understand that death is not the only outcome. Having to live and cope with injuries is also a challenge mentally and emotionally. I am grateful for my life and making a message out of a mess.
