-Marie
I am lighting a candle in honour of my Dad Rustico Gamat. It's been almost 3 years since his life was taken by a drunk driver. I pray that no one else gets to experience what my family had been through. Please drink responsibly. Don't drink and drive.
-Pinky
Remembering Ron Carmichael who was a victim to an impaired driver while riding his bicycle .
-Kevin Tucker
In loving memory of Fay Mangos, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, who was killed by a drunk driver on October 9, 2010. Months have grown day by day, it’s almost ten years since you were taken away. Thoughts are full and hearts do weigh, without you here to share the way. Time may dull the hand of fate, memory forever recalls the date. If you wish to remember Fay, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs it. If you do this she will live on forever.
-Elizabeth Mangos
My heart goes out to you all
-Nolack
My heart goes out to all the victims and the surviving loved ones of drunk drivers! I cannot imagine losing someone in such a senseless and tragic way :-( The police need to respond to every drunk driver call, not tell citizens “it does not warrant sending out a car.” That drunk driver could kill or injure an innocent person! IT DOES WARRANT SENDING OUT A CAR!!! Hugs and Prayers to everyone who is struggling with the loss of a loved one!
-Allen and Mary Stewart
47 years ago my best friend Keitha Lyn O'Neil was killed by a drunk driver on Balm Beach Rd. Midland On. when she and a friend, Dave, were coming home from a drive-in movie. She was 17 years old! The drunk driver was given a 3 month suspended license but no jail time! I and all who knew her have had a lifetime of pain and loss from losing her so tragically. One life lost through this senseless act of impaired driving has affected 100's of our lives forever! Please don't ever drink or drive high, it kills and breaks hearts for a lifetime!
-Mardelle
You are always alive in our hearts only distance keeps us apart. Until we meet again Forever loved. Fly angels fly xo
-Sandy
Eleven years ago, on April 12, 2009, we survived being hit by an impaired driver by seconds. Our lives were forever changed. I have never recovered. I suffer from PTSD and developed Fibromyalgia. I live in pain 24/7 and my heart breaks when I hear another innocent victim is taken away from their loved ones by a criminal act that is totally preventable. I actually feel their pain as I did not believe we were going to survive that horrible night. I can still see and hear the crash.. breaking glass and crumpling metal the force of our truck being slammed by a sports car pushing it across two lanes and up on a guardrail on an overpass...my hubby’s screams of pain.. the second hit...the terror of thinking we would be thrown over the guardrail onto the highway below.. Praying to God to make it stop and thanking him for our daughter changing her mind at the last minute and not letting us take our 17 month old granddaughter with us for a sleepover...the panic... as I saw smoke and I couldn’t get out of the truck to help my hubby...passing out when a witness came to my hubby’s door telling him/me help was on the way...the EMTs talking to me the pain of being taken out of the truck...my daughter’s tears hitting my face saying.“ It’s ok Mom Dad going to be ok Mom he’s in the ambulance..I know she’s Ok. She’s asleep in the van... I will see you at the hospital....As they arrived on shortly after the crash on their way home as well... I haven’t cried while telling our story for quite some time but I know there are still people out there driving impaired and it breaks my heart...as I know how the victims were feeling. I pray to God these criminals pay for the crime and justice is served as it was not so in our case...12 charges, 6 for each my hubby and myself...and he ended up with a reckless driving, one year suspension and a small fine. Crown wanted him to admit guilt to the charges....plea bargained his way out of it...Mom and Dad paid high price lawyer. Did he Learn anything? I remember him sitting casually in court. My hubby and our Victims Service lady pointed him out to me outside of courtroom as hubby was able to go into courtroom as they were not questioning him as he was reclined at time of crash and saw nothing. I have forgiven the impaired driver not for him but for me...so I could move forward in by life. These Senseless Crimes Have To End. Thank you for allowing me to speak up I pray it helps
-Barry & Karen Hagemeister
I want to honour all who lost their lives to an impaired driver. My family I could like to honour you as well as survivors of an impaired driver. My ex husband Albert Briggs my 2 daughters Cassandra Arsenault-Briggs and my daughter Chantel Skilton and myself Krista Briggs. We were T Boned by an impaired driver on October 9th, 2005 and not a day goes by that myself and my family dont feel the impact of that day. Our lives are forever changed
-Krista Briggs
Before you bend your elbow for that one more drink, please make sure you have a designated driver or transportation home. Too many have died because someone didn't!!!!
-Kathy Bines
Drinking and driving HAS to stop. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this criminal act that affects so many. To all my friends and family members affected by this, I will never forget. To the countless people who have been victimized by this stupidity, I honour you and will keep you in my prayers. I've lost many friends to impaired drivers and it's not something you can ever get over. I hate to say it, but I will never forgive an impaired driver. This should never happen. Ever. Bless you all.
-Janice McKay
My brother and sister-in-law were killed in 1998 in Tennessee on their way back to Canada to celebrate their grand daughter’s 1st birthday. The vehicle that hit them jumped a medium, landed on top of their car. We are a large family and that was the first huge tragedy we faced. The impact on us was huge, their adult children suffered greatly. We all changed that day. My heart goes out to all who have lost someone . Our laws have to change, we need tougher laws. I feel it’s like committing murder. California has tough laws, maybe can learn from them.
-Lucy Gris
Thank you MADD for your work. My sister, Diana Dulmage, was killed by an 18 year old impaired driver at the tender age of 7 while playing on the front lawn of our home. I was 9 years old (now 61) and watched my sister struck by a car and dragged 100 feet under the car. I can see it like it happened yesterday. Thank you MADD for all you do to bring awareness and save lives.
-Deb Koutoula
Thinking of a dear family friend that was tragically take from us and his family on June 8th, 2018. We miss you so much Gage 💔 Also to all the other victims that have lost your life...I pray for your families
-Wendy Webb
Remembering all the young people I went to school with in the 70s that never saw 21.
-Karla Lysne
I just wanted to leave a message for all the families that have lost parents, siblings, and children. My family suffered the same trauma because of an impaired driver. My father was the victim. There is not a day that doesn’t go by that I don't still miss him so much. I pray for each one of you that God gives you the strength to cope . And know that you all are thought of each day by the ones that love you and those that cannot be here with you. My greatest hope is that one day we will not have to keep doing this because a mom, dad , sister, brother, and a child has lost their lives for such a horrible cause. Life is so precious to hang on to and hold those you love and miss close to your hearts. They will always be with you in your thoughts each day and each moment. 🙏🙏😪🌷🌷🌷
-Missie Bonisch
I am 100% for this as it is still happening way to much.
-Laura DermerChalmers
RIP beautiful Angel in heaven - you willl never be forgotten! May god be with your families and friends each day to give them strength to carry on through trying times!

My Heartfelt Condolences Go Out To The Families Of Who Lost Their Loved Ones In These Tragedies And To The Survivors
-Tina
Far too many have been lost at the hands of an impaired driver. My heart aches for the many friends and family that carry their loss everyday for the rest of their lives.
-Mary Bozoian
I light a candle in honour of my husband and the father of my two boys. He was taken way to early and didn’t get to see his boys grow into great young men and also missed seeing his 4 grandsons grow. It has been 20 long years since he was taken by an impaired driver. And we all miss him dearly. To all those who drink and drive, PLEASE STOP - you are hurting a lot of people who are left behind to deal with the loss of a loved one.
-Joanna Gebers
We will remember you & that your lives were tragically shortened. Sadly our criminal legal system is so broken that precious lives are senselessly lost with hardly an acknowledgement. Go with God & have peace.
-Wanda Presley
This in my opinion is an absolute unnecessary waste of human life...I lost 2 cousins years ago. One was with her husband and children. Her newborn baby and daughter both died with her due to her husband drinking while driving. Very very sad
-Elizabeth
I bow my head and think of all those beautiful loved ones who are gone for all the wrong reasons. I bow my head in prayer and with love for the loved ones and their families for strength, peace and the courage they need to carry on and stand for what is right. Sending love Heidi💖🌹🦋
-Heidi Kreiner-Ley
It makes me extremely sad to be apart of the MADD family and to welcome new victims and surviviors daily as people still continue to drive impaired. Not one single day has gone by since my crash that I haven't wondered what could have been. I miss my aunt more then words can say and believe this was 100% preventable. The sky is more beautiful with all our angels in it. Social distance hugs and love to you all
-Nikayla
This message is to everyone and anyone. Like myself, many (too many), have lost someone we love, due to people driving impaired. I believe the law should be so strict that it makes people think before they attempt to drive in a wasted state. I say, on the first time a person is pulled over and caught driving illegally, they should lose their license for a year. This is a very serious crime and the consequences should be harsh. If a driver is under the influence and causes a deadly accident, then that driver should lose their license for good. Random stop checks should be allowed just for checking for identification and driver status. For everyone who lost anyone for something that is completely preventable, my heart hurts for all. I will light my candle tonight and have a moment of silence on behalf of all of you and our lost loved ones. God bless and stay safe.
-Deanna Guignard
20 years ago we lost my beautiful Sister, Nina. Thoughts and prayers are with all who have suffered loss and/or injury due to an impaired driver. So much has changed, but one thing remains the same...we are still losing innocent lives. Together we are united in grief and have a forever bond to our loved ones. Rest in Peace my sweet sister, you are forever loved and remembered by us all xo
-Jennie M.
Thinking of all of the victims.....their lives have forever changed. ❤️
-Sherry
As a survivor of an impaired drivers decision to get behind the wheel of a car, along with my teenage daughter, I encourage all victims to reach out to others with similar stories and to MADD Canada. Your grief is only yours but there are so many out there who can empathize and listen. Please reach out. Love and peace.
-Pat Henman
I would be joining my friends Jenn and Edie Neville-Lake in memory of their 3 children and their grandfather on this day in MADD gathering. Because of COVID19 it's not possible. Nevertheless, we love, we remember, we will never forget and we will continue the message:"Don't drink - save a life!"
-Galina Zelman
💔 sending our thoughts and prayers to each of the families today and everyday
-Karinna Kusmenko
I will always remember those who have been hurt or killed by an impaired driver. Senseless killings! :(
-Joan Bellefontaine
Sending love and prayers for all.
-Dee
Your stories are the reason for me not to go too far when socializing; don't take that extra drink before leaving social events. It is bitter but necessary inspiration.
-Sekou
I lit a candle for all victims and survivors, to pay a tribute to their memory. I thank MADD Canada No alcohol. No drugs. No victims.
-Goldy Simon
My heart breaks seeing all these lives lost due to impaired driving. May all your souls be at peace .
-Anna Magnone
I remember as a child MADD being created and thinking I hope I never lose anyone to drinking and driving. Thank you MADD for instilling it early in my life that driving under the influence is unacceptable. So far I've been fortunate. No one lost. I wish you all healing on this vigil.
-Lori Deschaine
Missing u is a heartache that never goes away Ken Hamilton. Nov.8/2004 Lovingly thought of daily from your family 💔
-Margie Bradbin
So many lives lost needlessly because of senseless selfish just plain stupid decisions to drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. I pray that the day comes where family and friends of victims find some serenity .
-Bernadette Schmeisser
Condolences and prayers for families and friends of victims! Hugs!
-Bernadette McNeil

-Cheyenne
It will be 32 years this June......you were taken so quickly....no time to say goodbye......you are missed greatly by all your family.
-Wendy Porter
My daughter was killed by an impaired driver over 12 years ago. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss her, not a day goes by that I don’t ask “what if” and not a day goes by that I want my whole family back. I see all her friends married with children now, and careers. Oh what a life she could have had, if only it wouldn’t have been lost. My daughter was Jocelynn and she was 17 when she taken away from her family. RIP sweetheart ❤️❤️ Mom
-Diane K Lavoie
Being killed by a drunk driver is such an avoidable death. If only people were smart enough to stop Drinking & Driving. Isn't it bad enough we have to lose loved ones to diseases and wars. Such a devastating loss for all.
-sharon viau
They were just 4 and 5 all those years ago when they were taken away by a drunk driver, a beautiful little boy and girl who had barely finished opening their gifts from Santa Clause on the day after Christmas. It was fifty years ago, and to you the drunk driver I want you to know the pain never goes away.
-Noel
All of these people should still be enjoying there live . Encountles tragedies. They are watching us from haven and helping us go over this hard Pandemic time .
-Lubica
I am lighting a Candle in memory of my Brother Lyndon Vickery as it will be 9 years on October 11 as his life was taken from us by a drunk driver. Our hearts are still broken and the memories of that date are forever with us. My heart goes out to all Victims and Surviving loved ones. RIP Brother Lyndon Missing you your Sister Marilyn Briggs
-Marilyn Briggs
Drugs and alcohol ruin so many lives. It is senseless and harmful, not only to the victims and survivors, but also for the culprit. It leaves a permanent scar on survivors, and their loved ones. Please, DO NOT DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE!
-Sandra Mattis
Death is never easy to accept. When it happens because of drunk driving it seems impossible to accept and often families find it hard to heal. The grief load is burdened by anger and other emotions that don't bring peace or acceptance. At this time I would like to extend my heartfelt prayers and hopes for all suffering from the deep pain of loss, or struggling to help a survivor move from victim to triumph.
-Elizabeth M.Wezelman
A défaut de vous voir cette année, je pense à vous très fort dans cette période d'hommages, aux êtres extraordinaires décédés et aux personnes blessées. Courage et merci d'être présents, c'est important pour moi.
-Sindy
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and survivors on this special night, there are no words to express our sadness and pain when it comes to victims of unpaired drivers. We honor tonight the memory of our beautiful, Jessica Sarli-Rivera, her incredible smile and joy is present in our lives every day, she is no longer physically with us, she was 27 years old......but her incredible presence will never leave us. We love you Jess, you will remain forever young. Besos y abrazos de tu gran familia
-Famille Rivera
Sending love and light to all those who are missing their loved one.

My heart just breaks to see all those beautiful faces. Lost to the families they left behind who are heartbroken. My heart goes out to anyone that has lost a loved one due to a drunk driver. May God bless all of you.
-Holly Rafuse
In November 2006, my life forever changed when I was in a head on collision with an impaired driver. Everything from the neck down was broken and I needed several surgeries to repair these injuries. To this day almost 14 years later I suffer every single day. The impaired driver lost his license for three years which started when he went to jail for two years less a day in provincial jail because his defence attorney didn’t want him not being able to become a Canadian citizen. He only served eight months because he did the programs in jail. I am forever grateful for the detectives who did an amazing job to guarantee he was charged with several offences. Our criminal justice system is broken and does not prevent people from getting behind the wheel impaired. I have no memory of the mva but in the last couple years doing my novel, I recalled I was revived and brought back to life. I will one day publish my novel to help others like me and to also help heal myself within.
-Tracey Waller
Rest peacefully

Our eldest daughter was killed by an impaired driver in 1985. We still miss her. May God give his peace to all who have suffered a loss in this way and help those who still drive impaired to realize what pain they give when one is lost through their carelessness.

So sorry for all the lives you have lost at the hands of drunk drivers. I am a proud supporter of MADD Canada. Sending love, hugs and prayers to all the survivors. Sincerely, Janet St.Louis, Sudbury, Ontario. xo
-Janet St.Louis
My heart goes out to all the families and victims of impaired drivers! I really wish we could put an end to these senseless acts. Unfortunately people are still getting behind the wheel of their vehicles while impaired, obviously without he ability to make better choices….hence why the public must step up to keep impaired drivers off the streets!
-Tana Star
In Memory of my Daughter April Renee Manitowabi ,...Forever Sweet 16 in my eyes ,..gone too soon ,..Love Mom ~ sisters Stephanie & Seneca .
-Teresa Iona June Manitowabi
I can't imagine the disbelief, sorrow and anxiety when the police come to the door to inform families that a loved family member was killed by a drunk driver. Years ago a classmate of my sister was killed by a drunk driver when she was in her teens and never had a chance to make any decisions about her future. It's so tragic that someone gets behind a wheel drunk without caring about the possible impact of their decision.
-Gwendolyn
For all we miss, may you know you will never be forgotten. Just loved a little more.
-SUsan Fogal

-Frank Peddle
Thoughts and prayers to all victims and their loved ones. Everyone needs to be conscious of how their actions and choices may affect others.
-Cathy
My sister Diane Woolley was killed by a drunk driver. I was on;y 12 years old. She was 21.
-Gord Woolley
This is to honour the memory of my 8 year old cousin, Sharon Elaine, of Windsor, ON, struck by a drunk driver 59 years ago while she was in the middle of an intersection driving her bike home from a local playground. Her younger brother and their mother were witness to this tragedy. He once told me he still sees her bounced in the air and hears the thud of her hitting the hood of the car. Drivers under the influence of either drink or drugs make a conscience decision to indulge, then make another decision to drive. Such inexcusable behaviour should be considered at law to be pre-meditated murder and dealt with according to the law.
-Catherine L Langille
As one scans the many pictures of victims, it is not possible to think of the needless loss of life and the suffering caused by the thoughtless action of those who chose to drive drunk or affected by drugs. I continue to hope that more deaths can be avoided if better choices are made than to drive when under the influence.
-Dennis Rankin
