Crash Date: December 30, 2016
Written by Michael’s loving daughter, Stephanie.
My dad was described as a true gentleman by many friends and colleagues. He was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand or to lend an ear. He always had advice to share or a statement of reassurance. With his kind smile he greeted most people with a firm handshake or an endearing bone-cracking hug if warranted. He never wanted anything in return from others, only for those to share kind gestures within their community in return. After retiring from Canada Post, he continued with part time deliveries of prescriptions for seniors or for those who could not leave their home. All while making plans for his retirement with his best friend and wife, Margaret. It breaks my heart to know that he is no longer with us as there are so many memories and instances where I and my family are reminded of his kind nature and his ‘dad’ humour. He loved to laugh and enjoy family gatherings as often as possible. He was a wealth of knowledge too – anything about his hometown, Winona or the city of Hamilton. He loved history and I swear he could have been a mathematics teacher with how quickly he could figure out many calculations at the drop of a hat. He was one of those people who seemed to know a little bit of everything and have the answer whenever asked. He was an attentive, loving, and phenomenal father who was always there for my brother and I whenever we needed him. Late nights, long trips, holidays and so many other wonderful memories drift through my mind regularly. He was in great health, bounds of energy and love to give, and life to live!
My Dad, Michael Anthony Cusick Jr., was killed by an impaired driver on December 30, 2016.
