Candlelight Vigil 2024

Harry Neville-Lake

July 8, 2010 - September 28, 2015

Crash Date: September 27, 2015

Happy, creative, spunky grandson & Kuya

This year Harry would be 10.

Here are 16 little pieces that make up my wonderful Harry.

1. Harry loved to find and share beauty and wasn’t shy about telling people that they were beautiful. He usually gave them a flower or stone he had plucked from along his travels or a curled piece of paper he made himself.
2. He loved long hair. He wanted to grow his as long as his favourite fairy-tale character Rapunzel. He cried for a long time when his mom had to cut hers because of a back injury in 2015.
3. Harry was very persuasive when he wanted something done or from the store.
4. He would have lived in the water if he could have.
5. Harry named his guinea pig “Fixer” because his Kuya named his “Destroyer”.
6. It took Harry a little while to notice that he had a little sister and even longer to like her but he loved all her clothes from the start. I am convinced he only learned her name so he could ask her if he could wear whatever dress had caught his eye at that moment.
7. Harrison loved his new thumb and could do so much with it. He could pick up small coins & paper clips off the floor, take stickers off a sheet and had just learned how to put on and take off his own socks. He was amazingly patient with all the doctors, nurses and therapists’ visits that he had.
8. His favourite song was MMMBop.
9. On his first day of school he came home and told his parents that he had met the girl he was going to marry and they were best friends because they both loved My Little Pony and the colours pink and purple.
10. Harry wanted to be a girl named Princess Celestia or a witch when he grew up.
11. Gardening to Harry meant asking you to dig out the worms and put them in his hands. Then he would laugh and giggle whilst holding them and build them little homes out of grass and sand. He “usually” remembered to help them back into the garden when it was time to go inside.
12. He invented “Special Muffins” a few days before he was killed. His mom came home from work to find him in the kitchen, pouring out a bag of milk with his sister’s help into a huge pile of “34 cups” of flour. He added grass and chives to the two batches his mom helped him make and fed his dad a grass one. He made his last batch of muffins the day before he died and was bringing one home with him for his best friend.
13. He loved My Little Pony, Tangled, the Spanish version of Frozen, mermaids and Dora.
14. Harry loved to play games on his I-Pad, especially at night when he would sneak down to where they were charging, unplug his and bring it back under the covers. He always had a huge smile when he got caught and would invite you to cuddle in bed with him so that he could show you what he was doing.
15. Harry would spend a lot of time with Tita Jo and he especially liked to play with her tea cups. From her Harry learned how to meditate and he would seek out special places to meditate. During his last trip to the zoo on Sept 3 2015 he found a perfect meditation spot outside of a pavilion and mediated there with his sister copying him.
16. Harry loved to be around people and made friends easily. He never let his disabilities get in the way of him having fun.

Written with love by his Nanay, Daddy and Tita Jo

It is beautiful reading about these dear children. The world has been robbed of Harry - dear, gentle soul who appreciated and taught that the world is beautiful. To the Neville-Lakes: Your sweet babies continue to teach us from heaven. Harry taught us that no matter what, be yourself, and no matter what, there is beauty in everything. Thank you Harry x
