Candlelight Vigil 2025

Stuart Ellis

April 25, 1989 - November 13, 2017

Stuart would light up any room he walked into with his infectious smile and larger than life personality. He was always down for a good joke and would strive to make people laugh. He was a fiercely loyal friend, hardworking son, dedicated husband and loving father.

At the age of 28, with so much more of his life left to live, on November 13th, 2017 his bright light was stolen from this world when he was killed by an impaired driver. Stuart was on his way to work as an electrician at 5:45am on a Monday morning when an impaired driver hit him, driving North bound in the South bound lane of Highway 48, a two-lane highway. The driver was high on multiple drugs and impaired by alcohol. The impaired driver hit Stu while travelling at 227km/hour, almost 3 times the posted speed limit.

All Stuart wanted to do was take care of and provide for his young growing family. Stuart and Justine were married on August 15, 2015, by the shores of Lake Simcoe, on a perfect, hot, bright and sunny summer day. They welcomed Stuart’s pride and joy, their first son, Grayson John Ellis on September 13th, 2016. Grayson turned exactly 14 months old on the day his Daddy was stolen from him. Just two weeks before Stuart was killed, Justine and Stuart were ecstatic to find out they were expecting their second child in July 2018. On July 20, 2018 their second child, another son, named after his daddy in Heaven, Coby Stuart Ellis was born. A son he will never get to meet.

Stuart was full of life, always willing to lend a hand or create some laughter for anyone who needed it. He loved fiercely and was loyal to a fault. Stu was an extremely bright, hardworking and dedicated man, by the age of 28, he had two trades under his belt as a Red Seal Auto Mechanic and Electrician. An avid bass fisherman, he loved spending his days out on the lake, working on his angling skills or at a baseball game cheering on his favourite team, the Toronto Blue Jays.

However, his greatest passions in life were his friends and family and he wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with his soul mate Justine, raising his beautiful children.

Our world is a much darker place without his bright light.
We miss you more every day.
Love you forever and a day.

Although I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting you, I was lucky enough to meet your beautiful family and witness what I’m sure were parts of you through them. I’m sure you are looking down on them so proudly as they show strength, positivity and love towards each other and you.

Stuart was a wonderful young man that I had the pleasure of teaching in high school. I didn't realize until I heard about his passing that he and his young family had moved to the town we live in. My heart goes out to his wife and children. I cannot imagine the hole his absence has left...I only knew him and short while and think of him often.

-Carry

Stu, you would be so proud of Justine and the boys. How we wish you could tell them in person and gather them up in the comfort of your arms again. Please hold their hands and guide them through this life without you.❤

-Jennifer Munson

You will never be forgotten. Sending love to your wife and little boys 🌿♥️🌿

Stuart, our hearts will always be broken because of how tragically and unjustly you were taken from us. WE MISS YOU ..... I know how proud you are of Justine and how thankful you are for Kerry and Graeme ... wish every day you could just be here.

-Auntie Hayley

Justine Grayson Coby Graeme and Kerry: every time I read your story, I think of you a lot Stuart was an amazing man, and even though I never got to know him how you describe him makes me feel like he would be one of my best friends he would’ve made 2020 a little better I pray for the boys I hope you’re able to find peace and comfort. Nothing I say will bring Stuart back, but he is in my thoughts and heart along with all of you. Sincerely, Tristan Arychuk of. Bc PS, impaired driving is no accident. It is a choice. I will be committed never to drive impaired and to speak about the dangers of impaired driving and consequences
